RSS feed? News syndication? Can someone please explain?
Ok, I know how you feel. A couple of weeks ago I had never heard of news syndication or RSS feed or even atom... Let me try to regurgitate what I learned in the last weeks and if it doesn't work, I'll let you go to links made by experts of syndication... Deal? News sites and blogs often use RSS feeds to offer their loyal readers to receive all news without the need to visit the site. I like to see it as a 'join our email list' but what's neat about rss feed is that you don't provide anyone with your email or any other information of that type. The drill is to use a 'feed reader' aka 'news aggregator' that you can easily find on the web for free. I like to use Feedreader which is a news reader only but if you prefer a browser that takes charge of RSS feeds, FireFox has a good reputation. On one of these, you can add the feeds (like this one ![]() *If for some reason you don't see the URL in your browser, use this one: http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheJelloShots Now that this is done, you will receive all updates from our sites. It's also usually possible to change the frequency at which your reader will look for updates. This technology also works with wireless services. If this explanation is not clear enough you can email me or visit a more technical description here. Labels: TJS Template |
